I recently won this great photo of Natalie on eBay, the photographer is Elmer Fryer and it’s from First National Studios, but I can’t make out what it’s from or the year. It’s very hard to read the handwriting on the back and it looks as if the piece of paper that is usually on the back of these photos is gone, a small piece remains, and the only word on it is “Here”. So that means it could be from the movie “Spring is Here” from 1930, which was made by First National.
Sadly I haven’t been able to update more often, I just haven’t had the time, I’ve got a lot of reviews still to do, and still working on research, but it’s hard to come by, and I just don’t have the time right now, but I’m not giving up. If anyone has anything to add please feel free to contact me, any information would be great.
The other day I did my first Marjorie Gateson yahoo search in ages and pulled up your entry on her and was startled to see it was on a Natalie Moorhead blog!!! Marjorie and Natalie have long been my two of my main "pet" discoveries from my first days of TCM in the late 1990's. I never imagined there was anyone else out there interested in either of them much less BOTH of them!! (I hadn't "googled" Natalie in many years as you know how rare it is to find info on her).

I didn't see a mention of the 1984 book RETURN ENGAGEMENT by James Watters who profiles 74 then-living vintage movie actresses with a new photo of each by legendary photographer Horst. Natalie is in the book and gets a full two pages (many much bigger stars got half a page!) - one page of bio with interview bits, the other page is a fullpage 1983 (?) photo of Natalie by Horst. You will definitely love this book if you don't already have it. It's long out of print but shouldn't be too hard to find used or through your library interloan department.
Thanks for the compliment, and yes I do own the book “Return Engagement”, I’ve been meaning to right up a post on it, I just keep forgetting. It is a fantastic book, possibly the latest photo of Natalie out there; I just wish her story had a bit more detail, so many questions, and so little answers.
